Creating a rich network of postdoctoral scholars and researchers across Grounds is a high priority for our Office and our community. Below is a list of resources intended to help postdocs, faculty, and administrators get, and stay, connected.
AllPostdocs Email List
The UVa email list, "allpostdocs at Virginia dot edu" is the primary means through which announcements of general interest and other information are disseminated to the postdoctoral community. The list is moderated to prevent spam and other unwanted communiques, but anyone with something to share of general interest is encouraged to use the list. To subscribe, please go here, and choose "subscribe" from the list to the left. Netbadge login is required.
Online Postdoc Directory
If you did not notice, at the top right corner of the homepage on this site is a link to our online UVA Postdoc Directory. If you have not already done so, we hope that you will take the time to post your information in the directory so that other postdocs on Grounds might connect with you. This is also a good opportunity to establish a web presence, or to augment what our department, program, center, or lab might already make available to you.
Microbiology PDA
- The MIC-PDA arose organically through the postdocs of the Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology department in 2011. This year, the leadership of the MIC-PDA, with support from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, formed the nucleus of a movement to form a university-wide postdoctoral association. This topic was the focal point of the pre-event lunch for the inaugural UVA Postdoctoral Research Symposium, held on May 9, 2013.
UVA Postdoc Alumni LinkedIn Group
- This is the official UVA postdoc LinkedIn group. It was created by the UVA Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to serve as a portal for current and former postdocs to network, seek advice, post postdoc-related content and stay connected. You are strongly encouraged to join and participate in discussions and connect with current (and past) members of the UVA postdoc community.
UVA PhD, Post-Doc, Graduate Student and Young Professionals MeetUp group
- Meetup is the world's largest network of local groups. Meetup makes it easy for anyone to organize a local group or find one of the thousands already meeting up face-to-face. The UVA Postdoc Meetup group have over 200 members and generally organizes one or more social events per month.
National Postdoctoral Association
The University of Virginia is a Sustaining Member institution of the NPA. As such, all Postdoctoral Research Associates and Postdoctoral Fellows are eligible for free Affiliate Membership to the NPA. This is not automatic – you must join individually. For more information and to get involved in the national arena to postdoctoral scholars across the US, visit the NPA website.
